PANTANAL, BRAZIL

Jaju is a female Jaguar that lives along the shore and deep into the jungle in Porto Jofre, Brazil. Females maintain a home range of about 10-15 miles and grow in length up to 5.9 feet with a maximum running speed of 50 mph. This is the largest cat in the Western Hemisphere. I found Jaju walking along the river edge in search of caiman or another crunchy delight.

Jaju łaps fresh water and searches for food on this hot day in Pantanal. Perhaps she was just enjoying a cool swim.
